An elderly couple had gold and diamond jewelery stolen by a woman and her aide near Fountain Chowk on Monday as they walked to a clinic.
The victims were identified as Jagdish Singh, 83, and his wife Surinder Kaur, 80, from Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar.

Assistant Deputy Inspector (ASI) Avinash Rai, the investigator, said a case under Sections 379-B (kidnapping) and 34 (acts done by more than one person in pursuit of a common intent) of the Code Indian criminal has been recorded against unidentified people and police are scanning CCTV cameras for them.

Delhi Police told the Delhi High Court on Tuesday that examining Umar Khalid’s role in isolation in the conspiracy for the 2020 North East Delhi riots would be prohibited by law while opposing the plea bail proposed by the student activist. The police complaint arose as part of a challenge by Khalid to a March 24 order in which a lower court denied him bail. The case will now be heard on Wednesday.

4 Delhi forests to be upgraded to ‘world-class standards’: minister
Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday announced the government’s plans to upgrade four existing urban forests to “world-class standards” so that people no longer have to leave the capital to enjoy a “green getaway”. Additions will include palm or bamboo based pathways, drinking water facilities, meditation huts and amphitheaters that can be used by the general public.
